Possessive adjectives and pronouns


Los adjetivos posesivos ingleses conciertan con el poseedor en lugar de hacerlo con la cosa poseída: My books.
La variación singular-plural indica el número de poseedores, no el de elementos poseídos: their dog – su perro (de ellas, ellos)
                                  their dogs – sus perros (de ellas, ellos)
También sirven para relacionar de un modo muy estrecho dos elementos: his family.
La variación de género solo se da en la tercera persona del singular. Hace referencia al género de los poseedores, no al objeto poseído:
                                her brush – su cepillo (de ella)
                                his brush – su cepillo (de él)
Empleamos el adjetivo posesivo en lugar del artículo delante de las partes del cuerpo: she hurts her hand.

Los pronombres posesivos marcan una relación de posesión o de pertenencia equivalente a la de los adjetivos posesivos que hemos visto anteriormente:
                              Tom has a new car. His car is red. The car is his.
No existe un pronombre posesivo para el pronombre personal it.

Los adjetivos posesivos se usan delante de los nombres y los pronombres no van seguidos de ningún sustantivo:
                           This is my bag. This bag is mine.

B: No, they are not your keys. They are my mother’s keys.
5.      A: Are those your glasses or my glasses on the table?
B: I think, they are your glasses. My glasses aren’t on the table. They are in my bag.
