Hoy os traigo unos ejercicios para practicar el pasado simple y el pasado continuo en inglés. Recordad que el pasado continuo también los usamos cuando hacemos descripciones de lo que estaba sucediendo en el pasado. También conviene recordar que generalmente lo vamos a encontrar unido al pasado simple en oraciones compuestas y por ello os dejo este esquema para recordar en que situaciones debemos emplear el pasado simple y en cuales el pasado continuo dependiendo de las situaciones.
Como veis en el cuadro si estamos ante una sucesión de acciones pasadas, el tiempo que tenemos que usar será el pasado simple en todos ellas.
Si nos encontramos con una acción que está en desarrollo y es interrumpida por otra, la primera irá en pasado continuo y la que interrumpe en pasado simple. Estas oraciones suelen ir unidas entre sí por WHEN (seguida por pasado simple).
Por último, tenemos dos acciones simultaneas, es decir, dos acciones diferentes que están sucediendo al mismo tiempo y en ese caso el tiempo empleado va a ser el pasado continuo en ambas oraciones. En este caso van unidas por WHILE (seguido generalmente por pasado continuo).
