¿Cómo preguntamos en inglés?
Hoy vamos a hablar de cómo
hacer preguntas en inglés.
En inglés hay que
diferenciar dos tipo de preguntas:
Question with yes / no answers.
En este primer grupo tenemos
las preguntas que empiezan con un verbo auxiliar (is, are, am,
have, has, will, can, could, do, did, does…) seguido del sujeto de la
frase. A este tipo de preguntas vamos responder con Yes / No.
Are you
tired today? Yes, I am.
Have
you finished yet? No, I haven’t.
Can
you skate? No, I can’t.
Recordemos que cuando el verbo
principal este en presente simple (play,
writes…) hacemos la pregunta con el auxiliar do/does:
Do you
play football every Sunday? Yes, I do.
Si el verbo principal está
en pasado simple (went, drove,
worked…) la pregunta la haremos usando did:
Did you go to school yesterday?
Wh- questions.
Este tipo de preguntas son
las que comienzan con una partícula interrogativa y nos piden más información en las respuestas
que no un simple yes / no. En estos casos la forma sería: Wh- + auxiliar + sujeto.
who?
- ¿quién? (personas)
what?
- ¿qué? (cosas)
whose?
- ¿de quién? (personas)
which?
- ¿cuál? (cosas)
where?
- ¿dónde? (lugar)
when?
- ¿cuándo? (tiempo)
how long (ago)? - ¿cuánto hace? (tiempo)
how often? - ¿con qué frecuencia? (tiempo)
how much?
- ¿cuánto? (cantidad – incontables)
how many?
- ¿cuántos/cuántas? (cantidad – contables)
how?
- ¿cómo? (modo)
why?
_ ¿por qué? (causa). Se responde con because.
Who
is that boy? He’s my brother.
How
often do you go to the cinema? Twice a week.
How
much is it? 5€
How
many children have you got? Two.
Dentro de este apartado
tenemos que hablar de las subject / object questions.
Estas preguntas comienzan con who o what:
Subject
questions.
Son preguntas que hacemos
cuando queremos saber quién o qué hizo algo, es decir, queremos saber el sujeto.
En este tipo de preguntas, la wh-question va seguida directamente del verbo, no
llevaría auxiliar:
Who bought
the book? John.
El verb ova en forma
afirmativa y la pregunta se hace sin auxiliary.
Object
questions.
Son preguntas en las que
queremos conocer el complemento. En este caso si usaríamos el auxiliar
al hacer la pregunta:
What did
John buy?? The book.
El verbo va en forma interrogativa
con su auxiliar correspondiente.
